Great for being near the airport before a departure or for exploring the Reykjanes Peninsula. I would not use this hotel as a base for exploring Iceland - the hotel is a destination unto itself. We did not get to sample breakfast, as our flight was too early. It's a splurge, but worth it for a special occasion and once you consider everything that's included. It was an interesting experience, sampling the warm waters of the lagoon during a snow storm.
SILICA HOTEL ICELAND DRIVER
Our stay was during a Code Orange weather alert (basically a deep North Atlantic Cyclone), but the shuttle driver was ever-helpful, getting us to the Blue Lagoon and later to the Lava Restaurant. Really enjoyed the premium access to the Blue Lagoon, as well as the private lagoon area at the hotel. The room was comfortable and we slept so well. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and helpful with advice. It's so clean and modern, love the Icelandic vibe. All restaurant staff were warm and welcoming Incredible trip at a great location- definitely visit again… Most expensive meal we have ever had but worth every penny on such a special occasion.
SILICA HOTEL ICELAND FULL
Not cheap but then nothing is in Iceland! Celebrated our 30th wedding eating at the Moss restaurant- extraordinary 7 course experience, full of theatre and the food was world class. We ate in Lava restaurant twice - fantastic - the bread is out of this world and we had beef both nights. I think by its standards it was reasonably quiet - plenty space to get away from crowds. We did Blue Lagoon each day (3-4 walk along path) which was a great experience- with Silica premium access no entrance queues, loved the swim up bar and free drink, the 4 included face masks were good fun. We used at various times day and night and on occasion we had the lagoon all to ourselves. The Silica lagoon being private is bliss - people using it from 8am before breakfast right thru to 10pm.

Nice little spots to sit and relax looking over the private lagoon. Saw some people had ordered in Deliveroo pizzas if you don’t want to eat at Retreat. Food and drink was ideal - great choice at breakfast set us up for the day. It is a beautiful private experience - simple, quiet, secluded, spotless and understated Room was great - stunning view. What a fabulous experience- choice of Silica (over Retreat) was perfect. Hotels near The Icelandic Saltfish Museum.Hotels near Fagradalsfjall Active Volcano.
